I am new! 6 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hi everyone.

I am new and a bit nervous! I will need the support though. Tried every diet known to man and have been successful on occasion (twice with WW - lost 7st each time) and now back where I started after having a baby.

I am really hoping this will work. Not sure how it all works. I have ordered it all and the delivery date is 2nd March.

I shall start on that day and report back as to losses on a weekly basis.

What happens about drinks and things? Coffee etc?

Hi Toppy!

Well done on your amazing weight loss in the past - just shows, you've done it before so you can do it again!

Re drinks, as there isn't a Diet Cup (now there's a thought Kay!) it's about commonsense. Go for calorie-free drinks where you can and, if you want coffee, think about going sugar-free and cutting down on the milk.

Regarding alcohol, the truth is that it's better to give up altogether but, if that's not possible/bearable, go for something like vodka watered down with lots of diet tonic; fewer calories than wine. Definitely keep away from beer and cider!

(I ought so say that none of the above is Diet Plate policy, just me giving my thoughts on the matter until someone more sensible comes along!)

Hi everyone, it arrived at 5pm last night so I am starting today no. Soooo excited but got a couple of questions.

Ok so on the plate in the protein section and carbs section the food you put in goes up to the tape measure yes? or the does it fit between those blue arrows going round in a circle?

Also on the bowl you fill your cereal up to the designated line then add your milk after yes?

Hope one of you answer by tea time! LOL

So starting today. Just having a cup of tea and quite excited about this.

Hi, Great to see that you have joined the forum, we are growing band of advisors and support for you.

Please dont be nervous, everyone of us on here has had or has extra weight that we would like to say goodbye to, it sounds ike you are good at losing weight but not too good at keeping it off? The good news is that you have found the best product to deal with both weight loss and weight maintenance.

To answer your question on drinks, you can have a half pint milk allowance each day, so there should be enough to put milk in your tea and coffee if you desire. Being ex-WW at a guess I am thinking you do not take sugar in your drinks - at 25 calories a teaspoon they can soon add up. And, to start with make up the pan of pure free veggie soup to have as a starter before your main meal - it will really help you adjust to the plate in the first week. If you need a recipe let me know?

If there is anything you do not understand when you get your plate, you can call us direct on 01457 862446, or go to www.thedietplate,com and check out the USAGE section on the top bar.
Welcome and keep posting.

Hi Sass and Toppy, No you're right there with the alcohol, if you must partake - I can't by the way it makes me feel funny, lol, try Vodka with slimline tonic.

Or a glass of white wine in a tall glass with loads of slimilne tonic or soda, ice and lime. A tall spritzer is refreshing and long lasting and if you only serve a small 125ml of wine not too bad on the calorie front.

There is 700 calories in a bottle of wine, over 1000 in a litre bottle. And if you wrk on 200 cals a pintof rbeer or larger you are not far off... ...at all costs avoid Bailey's irish cream like the plague and remeber the rhyme Cider makes you Wider!

And, there is a glass coming we are just sourcing one from China at the moment so it will be around three months.

Hi Toppy,

Advocado is a really good veg/fruit (i must check on that) but about 500 caories a pear. So if you're a veggie maybe this would be a main meal for you if you were having a full one.

I make a brilliant advocado salad, with parmasan shavings, loads of black pepper. Add crispy croutons, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, spring onions and a light dressing. I chuck in prawns but as veggie you could use chick peas (just a small handful) a totally nutritious meal. Yum!

Do you think we should start a recipe thread? Think I will talk to James about that, we could try them and vote on them and who knows maybe they will end up in our first book!

Hi All

Yes an advocado for dinner sounds yummy! That recipe sounds yummy too. All going well so far although I feel hungry so going to have my soup in a mo.

I dont drink alcohol anymore. I did in my twenties but since I had my son I just dont bother ---- maybe its cos I dont get the opportunity ever!!!

Hi
I had been using my plate for years, lost 4 stone but then put 3 back on!!

Started using my plate again at the begining of this year and have now been out this morning and bought a pair of size 10 jeans yay for me . It just goes to show that if you stick to the diet plate system it really does work. I think this forum is great it was not around when I first started to use the plate Keep up the good work.
